Dear Colleagues and Readers,
It is with great excitement that we announce the launch of Earth Sciences Perspectives, a new, gold open-access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing the frontiers of Earth Science research. As we prepare for our inaugural issue, we are thrilled to share our vision and invite contributions from researchers and practitioners across the globe.
The Earth Sciences encompass a vast and interconnected array of disciplines, from the solid Earth to the atmosphere, oceans, and beyond. These fields are not only fundamental to understanding the history and dynamics of our planet but also critical to addressing some of the most pressing challenges of our time—climate change, natural hazards, resource sustainability, and environmental degradation. Earth Sciences Perspectives aims to serve as a dynamic platform for the dissemination of cutting-edge research, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation to tackle these global issues.
Our Aim
Earth Sciences Perspectives is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible platform for the global Earth Science community. As a gold open-access journal, all articles will be freely available to researchers, policymakers, educators, and the public, ensuring that scientific knowledge is shared widely and transparently. This commitment reflects our dedication to accelerating the application of scientific discoveries to address urgent environmental and societal challenges.
Our rigorous peer-review process ensures the highest standards of academic integrity and scientific excellence. We particularly encourage interdisciplinary research that transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries, offering innovative approaches to understanding Earth’s complex systems. By fostering international collaboration and scholarly dialogue, we aim to inspire the next generation of Earth scientists and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Our Scope
The journal covers a comprehensive range of topics across the Earth Sciences, with a particular focus on interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary research. Our scope includes, but is not limited to:
- Solid Earth Sciences: Geology (petrology, sedimentology, tectonics, structural geology, volcanology), Geophysics (seismology, magnetotellurics, geodynamics, exploration geophysics), Geochemistry (isotope geochemistry, cosmochemistry, biogeochemistry).
- Surface and Environmental Processes: Geomorphology and surface processes, Hydrology and hydrogeology, Environmental geosciences and pollution studies, Natural hazards and risk assessment.
- Atmosphere, Ocean, and Climate: Meteorology, oceanography, paleoclimatology, and Earth system modeling.
- Earth Resources and Sustainable Development: Mineral resources, energy geosciences, and geoengineering.
- Planetary Science and Earth Analogues: Comparative planetology, early Earth evolution, and astrobiology.
- Methods and Technologies: Geospatial technologies, analytical methods, and data science applications in Earth Sciences.
We welcome contributions that advance fundamental scientific knowledge, provide innovative methodologies, and offer solutions to global environmental and resource challenges. Studies that integrate Earth Science research with societal challenges, such as climate adaptation, sustainable resource management, and disaster risk reduction, are particularly encouraged.
A Call for Contributions
As we embark on this exciting journey, we invite researchers from all corners of the Earth Sciences community to submit their work to Earth Sciences Perspectives. Whether you are an established scientist or an emerging scholar, your contributions will help shape the discourse and drive innovation in our field. Together, we can explore new frontiers, challenge existing paradigms, and make meaningful contributions to the Earth Sciences.
We are deeply grateful to our editorial board, reviewers, and the broader scientific community for their support in launching this journal. We look forward to building a vibrant and inclusive platform for scholarly dialogue and to advancing the frontiers of Earth Science research.
Thank you for joining us as we launch Earth Sciences Perspectives.
